Matthias Dembinski is Associate Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF), where he serves as co-director of the Leibniz Association-funded interdisciplinary research project “PATTERN: How Does the Past Matter? The Russian War of Aggression Against Ukraine and the Cold War.” After earning his doctorate from Goethe University Frankfurt in 1989 and holding positions at the Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard University and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), he returned to the Hessian Foundation for Peace and Conflict Research in 1996. His research has addressed NATO, European foreign and security policy, and questions of international justice, among other topics, and he has published extensively on these subjects.
