Thomas R. Elßner

Thomas R. Elßner studied philosophy and theology at Erfurt and Frankfurt am Main from 1987 to 1992. In 1997 he gained a doctorate on the Old Testament. From 2000 to 2005 he was a research fellow at the Institute for Theology and Peace (ithf) in Hamburg. From 2005 to 2016 he was an ethics tutor and military chaplain at the Leadership Development and Civic Education Center (Zentrum Innere Führung) in Koblenz. In 2008, he gained his habilitation in Old Testament studies. In 2009, he became Professor of Theology and Exegesis of the Old Testament at the Philosophical and Theological College Vallendar (PTHV), and since 2017 has additionally served as head of unit for basic policy issues in the KMBA (Berlin).
