Ralf Vollmuth

Ralf Vollmuth works as a researcher at the German Armed Forces Center for Military History and Social Sciences in Potsdam and is an adjunct professor of history of medicine at the University of Würzburg. After joining the Bundeswehr as a medical officer candidate, he studied dentistry and history; he gained his doctorate and habilitation in the history of medicine. In the Bundeswehr, he completed numerous assignments in the dental/curative field and in various staffs and commands. His research focuses on questions of professional self-conception in the medical service and the field of military medical ethics. He is the author of numerous articles and heads the working group on history and the ethics of military medicine at the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy.
