Carsten Stawitzki holds the rank of Rear Admiral (Konteradmiral), and has been Commanding Officer of the German Federal Armed Forces Command and Staff College (Führungsakademie der Bundeswehr) in Hamburg since 2016. After numerous assign­ments on sea-going units, he served, among other things, as commander of the Naval Academy Mürwik (Marineschule Mürwik) and as military assistant to the German Federal Minister of Defense. He completed overseas de­­­­­ployments as part of the International Secu­­­­­rity Assistance Force (ISAF, Afghanistan) and Operation Active Endeavour (OAE, in the Medi­terranean). In his current position, he is responsible for the education and training of top military personnel in the German Armed Forces.
