Gerhard Kruip

Gerhard Kruip was born in Munich in 1957. He is currently Professor of Christian Anthropology and Social Ethics at the University of Mainz, a post he has held since 2006. From 1975 to 1981 he studied mathematics and Catholic theology at Würzburg University, gaining his doctorate in 1989 and habilitation in 1995. From 1995 to 2000 he was director of the Catholic Academy for Youth Issues, and from 2000 to 2009 he was director of the Hannover Institute for Philosophical Research (FIPH).
